When they are pathologically damaged, they produce a range of pathologies from stuckness to fully developed personality disorders. To understand how to discover and treat character structures is to be able to successfully treat not only normal stuckness but the personality disorders themselves!

The AIT Character Structure Treatment Seminar synthesizes a new and groundbreaking integrative energetic approach for the treatment of personality disorders as well as clients with one or more pathological character structures who do not have personality disorders. The new approach is integrated with the most valuable aspects of previous approaches to personality disorder treatment--object relations, ego psychology, archetypal, cognitive, and cognitive-behavioral methods. By discovering and treating the pathological character structures that form the foundation of each personality disorder or area of stuckness, these are dismantled from the foundation up. In addition, behavioral and cognitive treatment components are utilized to transform and regularize pathological thought and behavior. Archetypal work aids in the dismantling of the structures, and ego psychology helps transform problematic transferences.
